hatching chick issue?

When a chick makes a hole like that, it's having problems. IF you choose to assist, be aware that it probably is having trouble hatching because there's something wrong with it. You may be able to get it out of the shell only to have it die or worse, have to cull it.
Yeh!!! Look it’s coming all
By itself I do feel like it’s backwards tho surly took its time….. thanks for responding to me

One of my baby chickens is hatching a little early, there is blood on the shell. I took it out to see how it was doing and it’s foot started trembling. I put it back in because I figured that meant it was cold. Is that a bad sign? I need advice. I think I stopped the bleeding, but I don’t know. What does the rapid foot tremor mean?

The chick was prob cold. Be careful taking them out because it can cause them to get stuck in the membrane if it dries out. do you have a picture ?why do you think it’s too early. My experiences is if u see blood from them pecking just leave them alone because it will stop and take its time coming out if it hurts itself. How much blood is it? Sometimes they can hit a main vein but I think that’s pretty rare……. Send us some pics….. and give us some times and details about the hatch.

There are two chicks both day 20. Usually, my chicks hatch early, but these birds look different. The first one hatched from a really bloody egg, and the others umbilical cord looks irritated.

I'm far more familiar with quail than chickens, but I would suspect that it hit a vein while trying to zip. Putting it back into the incubator was probably the best thing you could have done.

With quail there's not too much to do to stop bleeding since they're so tiny, but the bleeding usually stops quickly. It sounds like yours has already stopped as well.

See pictures I added of the two

If this were a quail (this is in the quail forums), I'd put it back in the incubator to let it detach itself and see how it does. I'm trying to think of a chicken expert to tag here... @Wyorp Rock ?
Thanks. I know this is a quail thread, but I needed answers fast. The bloody egg one is a bit lethargic seeming, but I can’t see any bleeding on the bird, and it chirps still. The Funny looking umbilical cord chick is very vocal, and moving around a lot.

I would wait n let them dry in the incubator. It looks like they did hatch a bit early if u have broader set up u could move them there too so they get drier quicker. but don’t pull on the membrane that’s still attached there to the umbilical cord….. just try to let it dry off it’s self.
