Hatching double yolk eggs

thanks for the encouragement i need it !!!!

i want to share even if they dont make it because theres not much info on the internet
and when they hatch i want to make a list of the things i learned and my suggestions for others who are trying to hatch a double yolk

Its a very small pip but i zoomed in to show the membrane

What do you think does it look good ??

Don't worry I'll update if anything happens I just moisture it every now and then and make sure humidity is high and hope for the best
I hate waiting
The membrane did not turn brown it's still the same so that's good
But still nothing is happening maybe twins take longer to hatch/develop!???

The only thing thats confusing me is that they are not chirping is that normal at 21 days !??

Some are more quiet than others. My eyes aren't working well this morning so I couldn't tell from the pics. Is the beak at the pip site you made? Also, you said there was no pip from the other one but you thought you heard pecking. Are you sure it has internally pipped - through the membrane but not the shell yet?

Eventually i decided to open the egg because :

1) there were no piping and no chirping.
2) I saw lots of yolk through the hole i made.
3) there were no movement at all.

What I found was :

1) A Yolk with a lot of veins around it (it did not develop )
2) An almost fully developed chick that seemed to be missing the abdominal organs
-of course it was dead-

I believe that the chick died in the egg at the very last step before hatching, he did absorb His yolk but
The reason he died was that the chick's rear was connected to the other yolk in a way that if the chick was to survive it had to absorb the other yolk too
I think if the other chick developed they were going to be Siamese chicks (connected bodies)

I also opened the first double yolk egg I incubated earlier
(I kept it in my incubator)
And I found a very small embryo
I believe it died in the first week of developing

What I learned from my experience :

1) double yolks can develop and can hatch if everything goes well.
2) apparently one yolk can be fertile and the other can be infertile in the same egg -the first egg had one embryo and one yolk with no blood vessels on the yolk ,which means the yolk didn't develop/infertile .
3) if a chick does not chirp/pip by day 20-21 it's probably dead.
4) when making a hole in the egg you shouldn't see fluids ,( if the chick is due to hatch).
5) if one of the embryos don't develop at all the other embryo will probably not be able to complete the hatch.
6) to have a successful hatch both embryos need to fully develop.
7) undeveloped yolk can look like a second chick when candled.
8) if the developing embryo look loose or disconnected or floating in the egg it is probably dead.
a living embryo shouldn't move a lot when you turn the egg it should be holding its place not floating around. (this can be seen when candling)
9) let nature do its job ,always try to let chicks hatch on their own unless its really urgent and you must help.
10) I realized there's nothing that we do that ruins the hatch of a double yolk .It's just that a double yolk is more likely to have complications than a single yolk egg and I believe this is the reason why most of them don't hatch (they have a higher death rate).

WARNING!!!!!!
THE PICTURES MAY BE DISTURBING FOR SOME VIEWERS..... I UPLOADED THEM FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE !! IF YOU ARE DISTURBED BY THE SIGHT OF BLOOD AND A DEAD CHICK STOP HERE ,DO NOT CONTINUE !!!!

here are the pictures :
as you can see it is almost fully developed it has nails toes wings feathers beak eyes and everything except the abdominal area was empty

This experience was very interesting and I learned a lot from it I hope you did too .
