USPS shipping

72 hours old and younger can send priority

Over 72 hours has to go express

Express for birds CAN take three days total (per USPS)

The arrival day/time is an estimate and they won't refund shipping if it takes longer

FedEx hauls the birds via contract with USPS

Dry ice shipments will bump birds from a flight as it would kill them to be on the flight together

Scans are only done at Hubs, sort terminals and local post offices. Once in route you rarely get a scan unless the PO handles them during an exchange, since FedEx is the handler between sort hubs

The only time any refund is given for an in transit death is if the container is badly damaged on arrival

It's not perfect, the alternative is delta dash at 3-400 per container in shipping and stricter rules

I completely understand. For an LPN, we have to work in all different areas, emergency care, geriatrics, pediatrics and the labor and recovery area. I know for sure that I cannot work with birthing mothers or children. Kids are entirely too heartbreaking, and I'm not the best with mothers because I do find myself mentally judging the addicts and such. On a personal level, I can connect with everyone, but it's hard to think about the babies that are being affected by the mother's problems. :(

Have to euthanize one of the bresse cockerels and have him necropsied. Also bringing two pullets to have bloodwork done. Having a hard time with this. I feel really naive right now. I wanted these birds so badly and I just feel helpless. :hit

The post office told me they were guaranteed to be delivered by 3pm today... I don't know how they can say that if they don't know where they are... Boy, shipping is a lot more complicated that I thought. I'm getting ready to ship my first ones and now I'm worried. I know you ship a lot, have you "lost" many???

That's worse than having "lost" chickens. Hope you can get some answers. Keep us in the "know"....

Very good info and well said. I found this out when the Foley birds were being shipped up and I was worried. I've purchased from GFF and been standing there in the past at 3 only to get them the next morning. I'm anxiously awaiting a shipment as well but they only left yesterday. I expect them tomorrow morning.

We had 36 hour old goslings go missing in spring for 24 hours they arrived safe and sound
Knock on wood we have had zero deaths when we ship

Wow - No deaths is a great record. 24 hours for little ones is a long time though. I still don't know how anyone could loose a box of squawking chicks or chickens. Even the box stands out....
