Tap the nipple a couple of times. They'll come to investigate the noise and figure it out fast!
they just figure it out.... I don't really do anything to teach them.... they just come see what the red thing is and get wet and then find water LOL

When I move chicks out to a larger brooder with a traditional type waterer, sometimes they'll stand and die of thirst before they willingly switch over from the tube of a bottle. They just don't seem to recognize open water as a drinking source. It takes more time to convert them back and I've had to be really careful. Of course, if you use nipples in all your pens, that wouldn't be an issue.
