No more pips out of this batch of eggs. 4/30 on the ones USPS had for ten days. What a waste of good eggs. Help me remember next year not to have eggs sent in December!

I'm leaving the eggs in until Monday, just in case. But Thursday was their due date. One Wellie, three Amers, one black and two blue. I'm ordering more eggs today!

It's a gorgeous sunny day here today! Hope everyone is drying out!

I'm jealous of the seramas! They are so cute! But I must have free-rangable LF birds. I couldn't manage lots of small pens and cages. A couple breeding pens is good enough for me!

WHOOT !!!!   SERAMAS.............SO ADDICTING !

I need to find a boyfriend for my Chocolate frizzled Serama from CPL's rggs and my black mottled from Bhep's eggs. The one from CPL should be POL. Maybe I'll find on local this Spring.

  1. OMG, I ordered those months ago......................I had forgotten all about them.
  2. Honey, we talked about them, don't you remember? You are getting so forgetful.
  3. What did you say you wanted for dinner tonight?
  4. Those hatched a couple of days ago.
  5. I had preorders for all those chicks..................hmmm, the buyers seem to have backed out.
  6. Put it in perspective, how much would a divorce cost?
I've gotta remember those for later.

Now who's being an enabler?

We have no heat in our home except for the wood heater in the living room. That means that our bedroom temps drop every night and I'm assuming that changes it. My room temp didn't drop last night as drastically, only a few degrees. It is a still air Little Giant that holds 41 eggs. Do you think it's the incubator?

Ahhh, the joys of wood heat :) I remember! You need to create a more stable temperature environment, even if it's just a big cardboard box lined with styrofoam sheets or something. Or a closet. The Little Giant isn't thick enough to compete with the changing temps in the room. Even if it's a colder environment -- the idea is the air around the incubator stays at a steady temperature, then the thermostat inside the incubator can be set to get the internal temp at 100 and stay there. If the outside temperature isn't changing, the inside one won't be either. Just so long as it's not such a cold environment the LG can't get up to 100!

It's part of the gamebird tradition. Remove the target areas when the birds were used in fighting. I wish they would take it out of the standard (like being able to show uncropped dogs). I watched it being done on my son's oegb cockerel, but I don't believe I could do it myself. I also don't think I could watch it again or look at the fresh aftermath. It does completely change the look of the bird. The thing that attracts me to moderns would not be there.....

Amazingly, the bird pretty much goes about it's business when they are finished. You'd think they would bleed to death.

Okay, that actually makes more sense to me than docking a dog. At least there's a logical, if anachronistic, reason behind it.

Lol. I love the divorce one. Waaay too funny!
I'm gearing up for one last hurrah before we move. Two sets of shipped eggs, plus whatever has been laid here the past few days. Right now, it's a little over three dozen eggs, plus whatever is laid until Tuesday. Most from my eggs will be sent to auction, but I'll be keeping leghorns, ameraucanas and any turkey poults, plus whatever hatches from shipped eggs (marans and MF leghorns).
