Puglady - we need to hook up so I can live vicariously though you...... - 300 huh? WOW!

10 brooder boxes, and a bunch of coops lol. They probably won't be here that long if last year is any indication. I'll be offering them as week olds on CL but will grow many of them out and sell them at the local swaps. If I haven't already I'm sure I'll see you there!

  1. OMG, I ordered those months ago......................I had forgotten all about them.
  2. Honey, we talked about them, don't you remember? You are getting so forgetful.
  3. What did you say you wanted for dinner tonight?
  4. Those hatched a couple of days ago.
  5. I had preorders for all those chicks..................hmmm, the buyers seem to have backed out.
  6. Put it in perspective, how much would a divorce cost?

I was so seriously tempted last night by the Bantum Wyandotes. SERIOUSLY TEMPTED. Made the mistake of asking permission and he said no.

Btw, I'm envious of those who have BYC family close. I feel like I'm secluded. One buddy is way addicted, but he's the one who started my addiction a few years ago. I started out with button quail from him, then he took me on a tour of his place and he has a large farm full of birds. I remember my awe when he told me about shipping eggs and birds. I thought he was some god-like creature, lol.

I'm going to try to snap a few pictures today of my golden laced wyandottes. I have one pullet, one cockerel, and I believe the third is also a cockerel. (He will need a new home.) These were all from the same hatch when I received them, but one of them appears to have emu genetics!

They are 17 weeks. Two of them are still small birds, but the one cockerel has outgrown my 7 month old orps and brahma. I'm fascinated by his growth. No idea what happened. Around 9 weeks or so he just sprouted like King Kong.

My mom used to say "forgiveness is easier to get than permission...." Haha!!

Always easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission, lol. Then you can mention that the birds are less expensive than a divorce, lol. My beg forgiveness plotting landed me 43lbs of lamb in the freezer and a stern "no animals larger than the turkeys" discussion. Lol. While talking about pens, he said they only needed to be turkey height, instead of 6'. I explained that if I got emus, they'd need some head room. That was shot down. I didn't mention the peafowl eggs I have coming in spring. It's only the tail that makes them bigger than a turkey, right? Certainly they don't weigh more than my bbw turkeys, lol.
:thumbsup

43 pounds of lamb? YUM!!!!

All right. I have a kitchen to muck out, birthday cards to address (why does it seem 3/4 of my friends have birthdays in January?), and laundry to bring in before heading out to go look at chickens this afternoon :) Have a good day, all, and I'll see you this evening!
