Bad chicken days the last 2 days. Went in the coop yesterday to find my only gold laced orp pullet from GFF dead. Don't know why. Everything else is fine. So there goes my SL orp project I was going to start. It'll be another year for that.
I was waiting on some people that were supposed to come out and look at a pair of chickens, so I guess I was trying to hurry. And being upset about my GLO. I always check and am careful when I put the waterer down in the baby pen, they are quick. Well anyway, guess I was distracted. I killed one of my MF bantam cochins.

Out of all I tried to hatch last year, I only ended up with 2. Thought I had 2 pullets, but tonight when I found HIM, I noticed he was a cockerel.

They were so cute. I mean I still have the one, but now she is by herself. These were my little pets, so friendly. Sometimes I just want to give up.

And to top it off the people never showed up, called or emailed, after emailing me endlessly on Friday. Stupid craigslist people. Ugh

I'm so sorry about that! I've been in that boat before. Before you give up, just think that, in time, things will get better. Think of the worst day you ever had. Then, think of the majority of days you've had in life. It is difficult, but eventually things will look up again.

So sorry Susan for your losses. You know I have GLO which hopefully will be laying soon.

I have had the same thing happen with Craigslist. Drives you crazy but every now and again I have met some really great people.

Hey guys, if anyone is interested in a side swap here is what I have

13 silkie eggs (black, blue, white, partridge/red
5 bb red old english game (not bantams)
2 black dutch bantams
2 turkey eggs (from my bourbon red pen- BR tom, 2 BR hens, 2 bronze hens, and 2 dark brown with cream in wings and tailfeathers hens. Not sure what these hens are even though I hatched them out of my birds, not crossed just dont know which turks they came out of)
You will get these plus whatever is layed tomorrow, will mail out wed. I would like spring eggs so if interested please pm me with your offers

all the chickens are penned seperate so they are pure

Susan, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's awful

My day was much nicer -- Michelle (ressepoultry) stopped down with her very sweet, very shy little boy so we got to hang out and talk chickens for a while. Very fun! (Michelle, it was nice meeting you Serama eggs are all happily turning in the incubator!) I made the mistake of eating two cinnamon rolls which totally conked me out, so had a lovely afternoon nap, lol!

I need to go tuck the kiddies in and makes sure they're all okay.

It was nice meeting you too today. I can't believe how good he acted around though. I got the babies home safe and sound and gave them some formented chick food they dug right in.

There so cute, I'll let you know what the marans turn out to be. Hoping a pair

reesepoultry so sorry meant to post back about the Marans in the eating egg flock. There is deffinetly a blue girl with feathered legs who is not yet 1 (she was a spring 2012 hatch)

Crafty that was a really bad day only way to go is up Had one i was attached to die a few days ago.Its hard.Does make you cry.

Well, dang it, the kids were NOT okay. I have a skunk that's picked off a few of my chickens over the months and tonight it killed my one Jersey giant. I need a kill trap. And to build a coop not infiltratable by wildlife, but I want this sucker DEAD. Anyone have any suggestions?
