Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I dont know how SH is with their poultry, but I know on the waterfowl side multiple people had issues with them last year. No communication, no eggs shipped, multiple promises of ducklings with buyers frustrated and canceling orders and then fighting to get their money back. One order (made through their website) was claimed to never have been received. Even though the buyer had their auto response email and the paypal email as proof.

x2 on the Chickens. I know people that never got their orders. Finally did get a refund, but they wanted the birds that is why they ordered them. I personally would not order from them.

Well, short term solution on the skunk -- I just took 10 minutes and moved all the roosts up beyond his reach. Long term solution -- that sucker is so dead; he just doesn't know it yet.

Cheery things so far today -- FINALLY finished all paperwork. Still need to sign & date about a zillion forms and run intown to get them all xeroxed, but that bear of a project is DONE! Yay!

Even more yay -- I found not one, but TWO pullet eggs while shifting roosts!

And they're not both from the same hen! One of my columbian wyandottes must've started laying. Either that or somebody's dropping eggs at 3 months and 28 days, which doesn't seem too likely -- although come to think of it, the welsummers' combs have just about doubled in size in the past two weeks...

Regarding Sandhill

Their "About Us" page says it all. Glen and Linda run their farm by themselves. They only accept orders via USPS and only take phone calls on Thursday from 2-4. They realize their business style does not appeal to everyone, but they have established a loyal customer base of people who are willing to be flexible. Here a link to their about us page

I ordered in Jan 2, 2012 because I heard they sell out really fast. In Feb or March I received a letter saying that my birds would ship in April 6th, and the box never showed. I called Linda and she informed me "If you did not get a call - your birds did not ship" She continued by saying "It is written on the order form" I could tell she was annoyed that I had called to check on my birds. I imagine she gets alot of those calls because after-all who reads or remembers everything written on an order form months earlier.

I patiently waited two more months and no call so I called again. This time Glen answered the phone. He could not have been any nicer. He explained that they had been having hatching and incubator problems and production was low across the board. He offered to return my money. I told him to keep the money and apply it to a 2013 order. I got a letter in December that my order will be shipped March 11, 2013.

Now that I know how SH operates I am happy to order from them. They have many birds I cannot find anywhere else, at reasonable prices.

Well, I'm officially in the "worried over late arriving shipped chicks club"!

PO worker said that the Express shipments had already arrived for today, and my box wasn't there. He took my name and number and promised to call me if he could find them. Perhaps we can pick them up at the sort facility in Gainesville if they turn up there....

I'm thinking of ordering from Sandhill Preservation. I would like to get a couple of breeds that are new to swap but would like to make sure that there was some interest also.

I'm thinking about the Flame Jaerhon, Red Sussex, Redcaps, assorted Dorkings, and assorted Leghorns as they carry several cool colors including Black, Buff, Exchequer and Mille Fleur.

Would anyone be interested in eggs of the above? Let me know. I just have to convince hubby I really NEED to order these.

I'm ordering Dorkings because my shipped eggs only have 6 developing out of 30. I can't seem to get anything to develop that is shipped from that direction. I'm not sure what the PO does, but it is ugly between me and Ohio.
I have Jaerhons and Flame Jaerhons coming from SH in March. I think they are becoming fairly popular. I doubt you'll have any problem swapping eggs.

Well, Gainesville is out. Apparently due to budget cuts, our mail comes straight from Jacksonville now.
