No way would I be able to handle hatching those CornishX. We just pick those up at the hatchery.

For our meat birds we do DC & RLWC. Once my hubby tried them there is no going back.

Here's Walli's post from the middle of the night last night...........If you haven't PMed her, your name is black on the left column, you need to let her know who you are gifting the Wildcard to........do it now!!
Here is an update on the Wild Card Swap Give-away Celebration. Everyone on this list gets a Wild Card swap to give away - those in green have already let me know who to gift theirs to. The numbers to the right of each name are how many that swapper has received so far. Everyone is eligible to receive also. These Wild Card swaps can be kept and used during any week once the initial 7 swaps have been used.

I believe crossing a leghorn with an Ameraucana produces SBELs. Does this work with any leghorn? I've seen DMRippy's SBEL chicks - white with some black spots. What would the chicks look like if the hens are brown leghorns, and the roo is a lav ams? Thanks.

I think they would lose some of the SUPER part. WL are HIGH production and LARGE JUMBO eggs. Other colors are not as high production or as large of an egg..... I know Exchequers are not, pretty sure brown are not.

Not sure on the color you would get but a Lavender is RECESSIVE meaning it will not express the first generation. If you breed those chicks back to the lavender you would then get lavenders. I don't really know the genetics behind a brown leghorn. You would get some colors, Lavs are really a black birds with a diluter gene (Lavender)

The basic answer is YES you would get a blue egg layer. Have you tried it in the chicken calculator? I am not very good with it myself.

Since technically SBELs are Super Blue Egg Layers, I would think any great white egg layer could be crossed with an ams to make a prolific blue layer. I ordered an assortment of rare leghorn pullets and hope to cross the best layers with my EE roo, to make super EEs.

Thank you. I don't know what a chicken calculator is, but will do a search for it right now.
