Okay, I'm exhausted, and feel the need to babble. Hubby lit the bonfire pit to burn deadfall at 6:00 am. He couldn't keep it burning, so gave up. No big deal; the pile wasn't that big. It could wait. We both have been doing chores and errands all day. Then he took a nap. At about 1:30, he woke up, glanced out the window and hit the door running. A wind had come up, and apparently there were some coals down in there. He started hauling buckets. I got the muck tub cart, and garden cart and started filling tubs to haul. Reilly has eaten all the hoses we had, but none would have reached anyway.

Fire moved fast. When he saw it, it was less than a couple yards from the fire pit. By the time I got out there with the first tub, it was over maybe a quarter acre and moving. I hauled out the next tub, grabbed all the dogs, and called 911. They got to us quickly, but it was maybe an acre and a half by then, next to the shop, heading for the new chickenhouse and his Harley trailer. Fast. Fire Dept got it out quick, thank goodness.

I have used my energy allotment for today. Hubby certainly has, as he was running buckets while I was moving tubs. He also inhaled a lot of smoke. I have him with a humidifier and hot tea for the steam. He's not in bad shape, but it's miserable to have lovely seared lungs.

Nobody was hurt, human pet or livestock. The fire didn't get to the front yard where all the dried leaves are. It got stopped before it reached any building....well, it was licking the shop, but that's all it got. A pile of lumber to build a lean to on the shop got no more than singed. Some fence will end up having to be replaced.

My husband points out that the dang deadwood in the fire pit still didn't burn!

Could someone tell me how I track my eggs with the dc number. My first set is shipping tomorrow. I am so excited I havent tried hatching yet. Will have blue black splash and barred rocks on the way from tigercreek.

Was there a new rule about the post numbers I missed? I usually try to quote what I am mining and it seems there was a disscussion on the swap thread about a new rule? This was always requested so did something change? Like if what you are mining is not quoted or the post number is not there it is not a valid mine?

There were a lot of posts today so I just want to make sure I have this right. If 3 people mine at the same time and only one has the post number they get the swap? I know it can be hard for Walli to keep up and we love her for all her hard work on the spreadsheets so anything to help her is great, I just want to make sure I have it right. Heck I have a hard time keeping up. It would be great if everyone would QUOTE what they are mining even if there is not offer yet.

I want to clarify I MISSED any conversation on this so I am clueless.

I don't think he is on this thread... well if he is it is not very much. DC is Delivery Confirmation.... that is through the USPS you can track packages through the USPS.com site.

Go to USPS tracking, put the dc or tracking number in where it asks and hit enter. Dc a tracking are the same thing now. Have fun! Anticipation it's driving me crazy! Don't freak if they don't arrive right on schedule. It happens now and then.

Look what I found in my Marans pen today.... BTW I don't have NN chickens



Apparently one of my pullets snapped after I moved some birds yesterday and she was feather picking.... even the rooster LOL. She will get some pinless peepers tomorrow for a few days. She apparently got some tail feathers too LOL You can image my shock looking in the pen and finding a breed of chicken I DON'T OWN in my pen LOL
