Just the chicks....ducks seem hardy as all get out and they got kicked out of the nursury to duck segregation the first morning. I have not lost any of the ducks I received, but I have them in a special duck-proof box. The chicks aren't acting too warm or not warm enough. They are in my triage box where I put all the new babies for the first day and all of the tiny, tiny guys like the bantams and seramas for special care. I haven't lost any of my hatchlings out of that box this week, most move out to main brooders in about 24 hours, but some of the bantams are the same age and have been in the same box with them the whole time.nutri drench in the water can help, yogurt (plain) hardboiled egg yolk. If they are stressed it is hard to bounce them back. Are they warm enough or too warm? (My only other thought) But again after what the PO put them through I am not shocked. Is it just the chicks or chicks and ducks both?
