I'm making my last minute grocery list and watching the minutes pass by waiting for my boss to let us go home lol! I took 3 roos out the freezer last night. I need to get home to put them on to make stock for my cornbread dressing. Yum!

Same here. I have to come in this weekend to catch up with some last minute assignments before year end (accountant), and so I arranged with my boss to leave and 3:00 here in exchange. I have to go get some things and really don't want to deal with the 5:00 madness at Wally world. That just ruins my evening.

Well, I broke down and ate an egg this morning. I hope that I have enough left to make my pies tonight. Those feathery stomachs out there need to finish their molts or hurry up and grow up and start laying again. I might-- GULP-- have to BUYeggs to cook with. I am currently getting 1 egg a day from 17 hens of laying age right now.

If they are not laying now, unless they are winter birds ( wellsummer, etc) they wont lay again until there is enough light. If you need eggs soup up the coop with xmas lights.
We call it rooster "mood lighting"

I was talking with my dad this morning, and as food for thought, postal fees are going up 3.5% in January. So everyone saving postal fees for spring eggs remember to save a little more.

Also, IMO quail eggs do not taste anything like duck eggs. I do not like duck eggs, too rich to just eat and funny texture, quail eggs i love. more like chicken, but different protien structures so if you are allergic to chicken eggs you can eat them. All the birds we call quail are not related to each other, so all their eggs are going to be different.

That's what we are going to do: string up come Christmas lights in the coop. Get the girls to lay a bit more.

KYTinPusher- did I do 3? I thought one (the one with claiming Madamwlf's CCL and sending PP to kraftyladies) got undone. So I just claimed Hedemora from CPL and CCL from babymakes6, yes? Or did I miss someone and I owe someone else PP? >.<

Well, I couldn't tell from the thread how it all worked out (I know madamwlf said she was sending eggs to two of you), so I just had to guess. Since there are virtually unlimited swaps this week, I wasn't too concerned about it, as long as you guys know who is sending what to whom.

Seriously now, can u really put up Christmas lights in the hen house and not have to have timers set to make sure flood light comes on at 3:30 am? Do they prefer colored or white lights
