Can I ask a favor of you all I still m busy with the NYD hatchalong and life and I have 153 PM's in my box still. After the 1st I will have time to sit down and go thru all my swaps and get them organized better.

If I owe you chicks the day after X-mas and the day after New Years or babymakes6 does as well can you please PM me. I don't want to miss anyone.

If I owe you a recent hen's choice can you please let me know so I can get that out to you soon. If you are waiting on Isbars in your hen's choice they are still being stubborn since I moved them. They are in a heated lighted coop so I expect eggs soon.

If you claimed bantam creole OEGB eggs please let me know the day I was to get them a dog killed the rooster and I have not been able to find a replacement breeding group. I will have to offer you alternate eggs. I will keep looking for a replacement breeding group.

If you claimed bantam Russian Orlaff please let me know, turns out they were not especially cold hardy and I lost them in the 1st Winter storm. I'm looking to replace them but it may not be until Summer, I am on a waiting list.

Everyone waiting on Spring eggs from me my Tolbunts and CCL are at point of lay I'm going to try to add light to them this week.

The Russian Orlaffs have started laying and should continue they are in a heated lighted coop, I just hatched 2 chicks from eggs I picked up off the coop floor when I got a few more hens 3 weeks ago. I think I'm going to pick up a few more of those hens next week if I can.

The SFH were laying then I moved them, they are in a heated lighted coop as well so it should not be long.

Tha bantam choc Orps and bantam choc amers are inside and will remain that way until Spring 2 of each of the hens are laying now.

The white Breese I'll be indoors until Spring as well.

The rhodebars are getting bigger every day and the roo is crowing now. The basque and Hedemora are some of my favorite hens and I'm looking forward to eggs from them this Spring.

In a few months it ill be egg city around here and I will be keeping the PO busy!!

I have a few breeds I haven't told you all about yet. ;). I might just swap some of them tomorrow at the backwards swap.

I just want to thank everyone for their patience, support and trust this year, I'm looking forward to everyone getting their eggs/chicks in the New Year it has been my pleasure to share them with my fellow chicken freaks, er I mean enthusiasts!!

Hi all. Just wanted to ask you all to say a prayer for my family and especially my mom, we lost my dad wednsday and things have been really tough. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.....thanks,Clarence

So sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Clarence, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. May you find peace and comfort in the memories you share and always know that a piece of him lives on through all of you.

Those muffins don't look at all appealing. However, I used to raise mealworms, a decade or more before I got chickens, and they were for human consumption. Dry roasted mealworms taste like slightly overcooked bacon, and make high protein, fat-free snacks...or salad croutons. Ground into powder, you can use them to replace up to half the flour in baking.

You can also find recipes for crickets and cockroaches, although those never appealed to me....legs and wings! I'd rather butcher bigger things.

First world problem...we get the squick factor and overlook lots of food sources that developing countries would jump at. Here in the US, we actually have one of the most limited diets on the planet. You can't tell by walking the grocery store isles, but you can if you read the lables...sugar and corn is what most of the prepared food is made of. And we limit our protein sources as well. Even getting people in this country to eat lamb or goat is difficult!

I keep telling myself I'll start back raising mealworms again, but haven't done it. Maybe in 2013. But the chickens will have to share.

You guys were up late last night. I think I'll be stopping the swap until spring, so I can assess what I'm looking for better. (Yeah, right. How many people have said that? I'll try, anyway!) English orps in most colors, good quality Wellies and Brahmas for potential show, and NOTHING ELSE! Nothing, I say!

Got my crossables crossed that my eggs get here today. They worry me.
