Heather - If you have 6 children as your name leads us to believe, 1. You are BLESSED and 2. How do you have enough energy left to stay up so late, get up so early and handle chickens?? If so, YOU ARE SUPERWOMAN....

I have 5 children. When I signed up for BYC I had a 3-month-old who was our third. The only name I could think of was "babymakes5" because he made us a family of five. I changed my username to "babymake6" when I was expecting Declan. You are only allowed to change names once, so I can't do it again. Everyone assumes that means we have 6 children, but it was meant to mean we were a family of 6.

I do have about 130 chicks of various ages right now! Plus 6 turkeys, 6 ducks, and 2 geese.

I know many of you live in warmer climates, but I just saw our weather update and we are directly in the path of ICE and SNOW - best guesstimate 12 inches.

Just moved chicks from house to barn yesterday, have 50+ chicks in the basement, 84 eggs in the incubator and 12 inches of snow on the way...... No way we will escape electric outages. Need to make contingency plan...

Well happy Christmas Eve! Today we are celebrating our Christmas since my mother in law come to town for the night and my husband is only off for today. It has been a wondrful and peaceful morning and I can't express the gratitude I have to have two children that I love more than my own life and a family who loves them just as much. Money was tight this year, but the truth is it has been one of my happiest Christmas, and gifts are only a very small part. I am thankful to those in my life and those whose paths crossed mine even if for a short while.
Merry Christmas or happy holidays to everyone and I hope peace and bliss find you, even for a moments time

I have been thrilled to find this group this year too.
The people are so friendly and there are always posts to read and its fun to have a window into other people’s lives who also love chickens. It helps me a lot to know that I am not too aby-normal!

No box of eggs in the mail today, the tracking hasn't been updated since the 18th, and the post office is no help.

I am past the point of wanting to scream.

However, the PO people did ask if the package is marked "perishable". I don't know, but I think maybe ALL eggs should be marked with this!
