Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I meant to message you this. I picked up my LC orp eggs from a breeder near me who had her LCs and lavs free ranging together. She hatched a few and grew them out and showed them tome. The color just looked messy. not sure if there is a way to make it look cool as it sure seems like it would be a good color combo... but they kind of just looked dirty. They were first generation, so maybe mating them together would produce something cool. I still don't get genetics at all so I don't how to really tell you what they would look like... ha ha. did you find that genetics book for dummies yet? I need to start reading!!

No, but I need to look. Even those color books from UK still had me guessing. Ok I won't try it, I don't do messy well. LOL Even the first generation has to look somewhat cool, or I am not going to go any further! lol

Thank you for posting the story!! It is amazing how though chicks can be, when other times they seem so delicate! Gives me hope for the two broken shelled BCMs!

A random post, since I'm all hopped on their coffee... Did you know Keurig and the singe cup brewing was invented by Green Mountain Coffee? I grew up in Vermont, and now my dad lives ten minutes from the plant. If you drive down the highway past Waterbury Vermont, you can smell them roasting coffee. Every Christmas, Easter, and thanksgiving we would drive from Richmond to Randolph and I would know we where going by Waterbury just by smell

I am a true coffee-a-holic. Don't know how I managed before Keurig. It is AWESOME! I would love to do a drive by and literally "smell the coffee"

Ok, those of you who are Marans people. I have my first set ever (beautiful Birchen from crfarm). I don't have any pips, rocking, etc. yet. I always have early hatchers. I'm wondering now since I keep hearing Marans are hard to hatch. Is there anything (at this late point) that I need to be doing?

I have never had a marans hatch early. They are usually right on time and I think it's because the shell is a bit thicker.
