Yeah, on marans eggs the best I can tell is "getting full" or "maybe undeveloped". At day 18 it's pretty easy to tell who's ready for lockdown

They were from kimberly35042 here on BYC. She posted a picture of her hen, Sparrow

Came home tonight to see huge raccoon in neighbors yard. She hates my chickens and has even ask me to get rid of them and tear down the barn as is not an "appealing" view from her side window (there are 2 houses close to us - it was a mom/dad, son and daughter in thr beginning-no other houses within 4 miles ) my husband saw her putting out scraps by a big tree next to our lane. It appears she is "feeding" the raccoon! It is within sight of my barn. Why do some people have to be so mean? She has only lived here a year and has done nothing but cause trouble. We are not even on speaking terms and both now have lawyers...... Just needed to vent.

Oh, and tell her to plant a dang bush. And buy a shotgun for the raccoon

I used to hatch in cartons and even in the turner with the 1588, but stopped that when I kept losing birds that would zip the wrong end. I started laying them down and wrong zippers started living. My hatch rates have been really sucky lately though. I know if I didn't clean the bator enough before my hatch rates dropped, so I'm wondering if I should use something else? I have a hard time with bleach and quit using it, but I think I'm going to have to suck it up and deal with it or see if G will do it for me, to see if my hatch rates look better.

G's getting me a scale now. Not so it can tell me how badly I need to exercise, but because I'm dying to know what my birds weigh! Hit TSC today because a hennie got a nipped comb, and don't you know, they have the fifty pound bags of oystershell for ten bucks! They didn't carry it before and I was paying $6/10lbs!

Maybe I'm just in a foul mood, but I'd shoot the darned thing and put it under her house or porch for it to stink up her house a bit. Okay, definitely in a foul mood!

Hey, speaking of silkies, I had all four of the silkies that hatched from RedBrushFarm's eggs on my lap last night, cuddling and watching tv. Are they all this sweet???

And here I never thought I wanted silkies...

I need to know who has chickens that lay big white eggs. I am assuming those are the easiest to candle. I am lending my incubator to a preschool teacher in a few weeks and I thought those would be easiest for the kids to see. So now I need to know who to stalk!

Pictures? I think silkies are irresistable. What other cute fluffy animal can be handled by a macho man without anyone questioning his masculinity? See a man with a poodle all primped up and you might laugh, see a man with a silkie and all you can think is "awww"

I am so bummed about the SL Brahmas. I actually did everything right with that batch...I think. But we will wait and see. It is only day 5.
but I thought I might see some veining or something.

I want a week off work. I seriously don't want to go in tomorrow. this might be TMI but I am having gas...crampy gas. I can feel the bubbles of it trying to work their way out of my system. bleah. just uncomfortable. certainly don't want to wear my tailored work pants. I like these "yoga pants" I have on right now (that have never seen a single yoga move). wonder if they'd let me wear them for a medical condition.

gas is a medical condition! it is!
just a temporary one.
