ok DMRippy

9 fluffy big fat yellow bearded and muffed chicks with black polka dots are in the brooder under the ecoglow. i had a few quitters and one lone egg that has chirping, no pipping here on day 22. i would post a pic but some lovely fireman gave me a laptop for hanukkah last night and i have no clue what i am doing.

i think they have to be the cutest chicks i have ever hatched. i just can't get over the chubby factor. i just wanna squeeze them, but that would be bad.

Good job! now lets hope they are ALL pullets

they are cute spotted babies....... no mistaking them for anything else in my brooders.... except when I hatched some Exchequer crosses.... they looked JUST Like the SBEL, but they have straight combs.... so that helped.

I did? Lol

Maybe it's because I got eggs from both of you around the same time.
BUT, I was going to send you some more silver sussex!

Holy moly... seriously people, it has been a busy day on here!! I love all the talk about genetics... VERY interesting... fascinating, actually, I'm trying really hard to wrap my head around it, and piece by piece, it is coming together!!

Also, very interesting talk about the nutrition... I know several of the breeders around here do up the carbs in the late fall for their birds and start increasing the protein again in late January as they are wanting them to go back to laying for breeding.. but it can get VERY cold here, and not just for a few days, it can be cold for a few months, so I know that the rationale is to fatten the birds a bit for the winter....

I'm paying $25 for 80 pounds from the grain elevator...

CUTE chicks!! Incubator is warming up to set my eggs Tuesday evening for NYDH=) (gotta work on tuesday)...

Oh.. need to go look at the egg guessing contest=)

I have wheaten ameracaunas... still need to get pics up on my swap or coop page (which I also need to start)... still learning about them, so not sure HOW nice they are...
