I don't think I'd be angry. Just because they bid against you, they wanted them too. Otherwise, I looked at the auction, there were several people from BYC that bid on those birds. If your's wasn't the first bid of someone from here, then you were bidding against people here too. I don't think you can really call "dibs" on an auction, otherwise they would just all be "buy it nows".

It's nice that people here look out for each other and share their eggs, but really maybe someone else here wanted them as much or more.

I think if the auction was for ayam cemani, I'd be hard pressed to sit on my hands during an auction (unless I knew whoever got them was going to share with me................yoo hoo...........CJ"

True, true, and yes -- but the odd thing was this person apparently wasn't a BYC member until after the auction and joined seemingly with the express purpose of contacting AyeUpChuck. (Do I have that right, AUC?) That's the part I find a bit unnerving...

Still pretty weird how they contacted you though. Maybe they just did a google search for the breed name?

I have never bid anywhere but on ebay, but I often wait until the last minute to bid.    I want to win and get it as cheap as I can... I don't want a bidding war.  ;)
I get it. I just personally think its shady. And it's weird that they just joined BYC but know who I am when I have a different name on RBA. They have like one post to their name.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Deb, It"s an auction and If I wanted them bad enough I would try to get a bid in until the last second

Quote: But that's the way auctions work. That's why they have an ending time. If you bid early, you tip your hand that you are interested and it just drives up the price. I've bought plenty of items off ebay (well, I used to, I broke that addiction) and that's the best way to win..................isn't that the point of bidding on an auction, to try to win? I don't understand why you think that's a shady practice. Any bid made before the auction closes is a valid bid. Unfortunately, online auctions frequently go to the person with the best internet connection. Kind of like scoring the best seats at a concert.

I had a cat that would paw at my mouth while I was on the phone.... She would also walk across my computer when she wanted HER SPOT. I love cats..... I can't have them as house pets anymore.... they just make me too sick. I live with it for YEARS and life is good with out the cats.... i can breathe

It is a good thing.....

And even more -- they know you ended up with the birds even though you didn't win them. Does their profile show a join date?
