I think we got some white sultans in our cochin order. Unless they jumped ship into the next compartment. they were divided pretty equally tho.
I was hoping to get some Duccle in my asst, but I don't think so.

Are they bearded too? Maybe that is what they are.


ETA: yup, could be them too. They are a yellowish color. Haven't noticed the top knot....

ETA: yup, could be them too. They are a yellowish color. Haven't noticed the top knot....

On ours I noticed the top knot, thought silkies, but legs were not dark. Had 5 toes tho...

Woot! Congrats! That's great if they're meaty by 12 weeks. Do they eat an awful amount?

Actually, not an awful amount -- certainly nowhere near what the commercial broilers do. Of course, at 12 weeks they're not as plump as broilers either, but a perfectly respectable table chicken at that age, and by 16 weeks they were family-of-four and soup size. This next hatch of them (probably late Feb.) I'm going to keep track of growth and feed rates, but they're looking like a nice, thrifty homegrown utility blend.
