Woo hoo!!!!!

Almost 3 years ago in March I got my very first chickens and I actually still have one of those girls. She's my head hen. Back then if someone had told me I would have 7 coops and looking to add 2 more, I would have thought them crazy. But here I am, 7 coops later. I'm shipping eggs and birds all over the US. I've spent more money in this hobby then I could ever imagine. I never knew there were so many breeds and how much fun they could be. And I never knew what awesome people poultry folks could be!! I love this hobby!

She lives 20 minutes away. I was going to rent a little piece of her land for chickens till my husband's co worker offered his place. Let me tell you, it's like a mille fleur d'uccle cochin EXPLOSION. Spangles all over the place.

Also super nice, her and her husband are such a cute couple :)

George just said the other day that it's a rather expensive hobby when you think about it. I explained that you could spend thousands on a cat or dog and they still won't make you breakfast!

My first 5 were given to me "free" from my neighbors 2 years ago, she actually had to push a little to get me to take them. I still have three, one being my very special lap chicken. There first coop was a modified dog house which I was assured would be all they needed. I have three coops now and who knows how many more in the future now that I have met you enablers :p I never thought i would fall in love with them so of course there turned out to be nothing free about them

We started 2 years ago with 4 mutt chickens (phineas, ferb, candice, and perry). We still have ferb and perry(who turned out to be a hen) and Candice who is now Jeremy because he turned out to be a rooster. We moved from a quiet suburban neighborhood to a 6 acre farm and it has just boomed. Now we are selling chicks, chickens, hatching eggs, eggs to eat and we just processed our first chickens to eat a few weeks ago. It is amazing what we have come from in just 2 years.

I just sent an email to the Avian Pathologist here to get started on testing. I figure it's best to get it done now, before we move, insead of waiting and god forbid, something shows up and then the land is contaminated.
