Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

so, I heard this awful noise coming from my chicken area when I got home today. I know every one of my roosters' crows. This one was totally new to me. I had to cheer. My White Bresse rooster is finally crowing!

hmmm....I've not had mites yet. wonder if it is because of the sweetPDZ I have in their coop...off to google it.
You might not know you had them. Honestly every chicken I have gotten that was an adult that was outside had at least mild mites, even if not all the owners noticed. I give everyone who comes or goes from here invamycian. I don't look for bugs, I look for egg cases . I ALWAYS find them, and I do admit they are a pita. My big birds dustbath but silkies don't do it very well. The big girls get a few, then bath em off, then get more in a few weeks.

The interesting thing is I have processes roos and not found mites, but do see some of the cases anyway. (now that I think of it i have never seen a mite on a processed bird) so I know they get rid of them themselves fairly easily.
I got a question in the what would you do category.

I informed a customer that his eggs would be ready to ship yesterday or today and to go ahead and make the payment to PayPal. I also asked him to resend the shipping information as the previous email he had sent was no longer available to me due to computer problems.

I received the Paypal and no further communications. I sent the eggs today with the address that was included with the PayPal payment.

Now tonight he wants to know where I shipped the eggs to him or his aunt. Since the only address I had was his I told him that. He is very angry and wants to know what I'm going to do? I told him I would talk to the post office, but I didn't know that I could do much. I even resent the email to him that requested payment and shipping instructions.

What should I do, what can I do and what would you do?
I was on the receiving side of this one once. I sent the right address, shipper lost it and used paypal address without checking with me. I could not get the eggs rerouted or changed in any way, and the po she sent em to was the main po in San Jose, so no way to get someone to locate something I KNEW was going to the wrong place, ugg( she also took the address wrong off paypal that didn't help either)

PP just did not save the address changes I made when we moved. Since no one else had used it I didn't even know it was wrong.

The moral to the story is don't ship w/o confirmed address. Ever, Ever, Ever.. It ALWAYS comes back to bite you. He doesn't reply? Email back again. Problems are the nature of the shipping business, so always double check. That is one of the big reason I print postage at home . Not only is it 10% off, I know in advance if there is an issue with the address.
Here is the deal with shipping. To be covered by PayPal you MUST send to the address on file that comes through with the payment. otherwise you are screwed as the seller. Now I will allow buyers to send a different send to addy IN the memo area of the paypal payment to be shipped to. This way if there is an issue, I have proof the buyer requested a different address ON their payment. otherwise its the buyers fault for not following through and providing all information.
I did not know that! They should make it easier to change the fricking address! We had to change the entire pp to do it, it kept going back to old.
Arghhh! I just had a customer, who is buying BCM chicks from me, mention she had emu, and an egg in her Bator... It was ALL I could do to NOT ask her for a trade!!! My husband would literally kill me if I had emu chicks!
Emus require extreme fencing, AND a lot of people recommend electric fencing. I wanted them until I read about the famous 1500 dental bill from an affectionate emu bump. They knocked out CROWNS for fun. Aarg.

That is an animal that needs a serious commitment.
Ok I found a tiny white mystery egg in my coop this morning.

Did it come come from my buttercup girl whom is 8 months old and just starting laying. So far her other eggs have been double the size of this one.

Or did it come from one of my bantam silkie crosses that are only about 14 weeks old?

Which do you think is more likely?
If a 14 week old silkie layed, clone that thing and sell it em mass, they are usually 7-9 months, some up to a year.
Heather, what do you have covering your Ecoglow? I need to find something to use on mine.
I use the rubber shelf stuff and clip it on take it off and wash.
Where can I get a good small cheap incubator with a turner? I really don't want to run the cabinet for a few eggs when I decide to hatch a few of mine.
I think the brinsea site has dinged incubators? One of their 20's for 100 bucks or so? I didn't get one but I saw it on this thread somewhere

Or
You can keep an eye out on CL. I found another Brinsea for $100 and she's shipping it for peanuts with ups. It will hold 24 chicken eggs.
ok, do you have an app that looks in multiple areas on cl or do you hand look? Id LOVE to find something that will look in more areas then just California.

Hope everyone is doing well, its been a crazy busy week here!

Hee! Seriously, I didn't know that. Of course, for it to be useful to me, I'd have to have something approximating a real cell phone...
