Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Ok I just realised I have sveral differnt breeds all hatvhing at the same time and some may look very similar. I plan on using hatching baskets, but was wondering what the best way of marking the chicks was? I will be going out of town for two weeks when they are 2 weeks old so something easy is best. I tried zip ties with my ducks, but was so worried they would grow too much I put them on too loose and most fell off! I am willing to give those another go, but thought someone might have a better suggestion!

I use vetwrap. I cut little strips about 1/2 inch wide and wrap it around their leg several times. Stays on for a long time, but can come off. Comes in all kinds of colors too and you can mix and match. I am going to resort to toe punching. It will not come off

I will still use the vet wrap too.

Florida does have free healthcare for kids. However it ran out in December and I reapplied and it takes a couple months to get it all sorted. I was just running on the grace of god, injury and illness free.
The nurse said it was slow as could be and now its busy haha always happens that way.

Nicole, glad it seems to be going down. Wish we could have chatted earlier more, but glad hubby was around to talk to you.

Ok I dont know what all of you silly people are thinking, I am closer than all of you to Krafty and will be seeing her soon.

I am very grateful to you and your husband. Thank you.
It actually isn't looking any smaller :/ just noticed its pushing on the sharpie lines more than before. At least it isn't spreading like it was earlier. I hope they look at it soon.

Here at the ER. Thank you for all the advice. I would have been a panicking mess all night and ended up here anyway. I marked his foot at 7, and it actually looks like it went down a little

but of course we are going to have to pay a lot of money for peace of mind at the least.

I feel like such a piece of crap...here I am worried about if I had been cleared to swap or not and someone has a hurt baby...I am so sorry!
Hope it turns out to be just a mild infection and nothing serious

ER's are expensive but the money spent is worth the piece of mind knowing your baby is safe.
Was he barefoot?
Maybe we could all chip in and buy the little guy a pair of steel toed work boots

Harbor freight has packs of 1000's in solid colors in each size for not much money either.... maybe 5-7 a pack. I personally dont like zip ties. They fall off if too lose on day olds and it is tricky to get them on those little legs. AND if you forget them they are really a mess to get off and have to be changed often.

Vet wrap can stay on for MONTHS. It will spread open as they grow. I also use VELCRO and pipe cleaners to mark them. They don't come off ! Well unless they snuggle up to another one with velcro and it pulls off LOL (only had that happen once)

He is happily watching cable tv right now. A real treat for him. He's thrilled. At least, until the doctor comes in and decides to give him a shot or something.

He was wearing shoes, however he feel right over and caught the wire on the top of his foot on the way down. Crocks don't offer much top foot protection!

I have one of these too-I like how the top flips up to refill, but it is useless with chickens.
