I am officially done buying birds. I just won my last auction and I'm so thrilled. Time to grow all these chickies out!

cool! what'd you get? when does your hubbie get home? Chicks are so cute for about 2-3 weeks and then I am like: grow fast so I can see what you will become!

Whoa. I stretched out for a 15 minute nap and suddenly it's 9 pm... Wow, you guys were chatty this afternoon!

But I've decided it's definitely easier to keep up with the thread than to catch up with it, so as long as I have half a chance to...

I've only ever did it with turkeys which is a two person job. The biggest thing is getting a clean sample. As in no feces.

I will tell you once they figure out what you want they start doing it without you. Like every time they see you. At least that's how turkeys are.

It grosses my husband out so I couldn't do it anymore.

Look what I got in the mail! I want to clean it up. It was suggested that I should repaint it. Suggestions?

That's really handsome! I'm not sure I would repaint it, myself.

I have a dozen GLW eggs that I set on the 12th. I candled last night and all but one look clear. At what point should I give up and pitch them? The Arkansas Blues that I set at the same time all show very clear veining and movement from the embryos.

Bummer, caj! I have to admit, if I have the incubator room I don't toss anything before at least 10 days. Have two white orp chicks at the moment that I'd sworn on day twelve were non-developers -- they just developed slow.

Of course, at this point I pretty much only candle when I need more 'bator room

And by then maybe I'll have fertile black Barthuhner eggs.
