Unfortunately that isn't breed specific. I have two free-ranging freeloaders that watch too much WWE. They tag-team and come in from opposite corners. I swear they practice their attack style when no one is watching. My shins are battered. One is a young EE and the other is an old Redcap. They are both hitting the sale this Saturday.

I have an oversexed Araucana cockerel (that whole breed seems to be that way) that has recently been on the receiving end of similar treatment from my Jersey Giant hen and EE roo. I laughed until I cried Sunday because he jumped the JG when she was eating, and she shook him off, chased him around the pen and kicked his @#%! As he is running from her my big EE roo stepped right in his path and got him from the front as the JG was after him from the rear. I'm hoping they teach him some manners. Araucanas as teenagers will run the pullets ragged, or anything with feathers for that matter.

DH and I are contemplating purchasing a Dickey or Sportsman. However, I am confused about the hatching process in these--if we get the models with the three trays for incubation and the one hatcher tray in the bottom, doesn't the rise in humidity for the hatching tray on bottom affect the eggs still incubating in the upper trays? Will I need to add a 5 gallon bucket of water to keep the humidity up or is it simple enough to keep the humidity monitored by hand? Please offer me advice before I go spending more money on chickens...

DH is literally in TSC this morning killing time and texting me--"Hey, they've got another incubator on sale in here." I responded with, " Well, if you buy another, that's three total and if you've spent almost $500 on three regular incubators, you might as well be buying me a cabinet incubator and be done with it!" Come on income tax refund...I think I may win this battle.

I probably wouldn't mind if they kept the antics confined to tormenting their yardmates. I'm just tired of having to be on guard wondering where those "blankety-blank" turds will be attacking ME from next. Actually it might be inferiority complex issues as both of them regularly get mowed over by my big pencilled rock hen. She just flattens them. SHE knows the meaning of "don't bite (or beat upon) the hand that feeds you".

Morning all! My rare leghorns from ideal should ship today, which means I need to move the 2 week olds out of the garage and into the outside brooder with the heat lamp so I can use the eco glow for the babies! Of course its freezing today and wet and mucky.
