Good evening Billie Sue

CelticOaks - where did you post the pictures of how to ship a box?? I was never able to find them.

Also - Ordered an Brinsea OvaViewer - It is unbelievable.... I could not believe what I could see with it. I am going to have to be careful or I am going to become a candle-a-holic. It was so neat to watch them move around, I almost forgot they needed to be back in the incubator.....

WV - When I opened the first box you sent, I noticed one corner was dented. Sure enough there were 3 scrambled eggs in the corner. All the others look great!! Can't wait to see what I get

I'm feeling real positive about them. The weather was good for the shipping and I'm betting on 75% or more hatch rate. You want to make a prediction?
I dont know, it took the first box too long to get there and it was cold but the second box came really quick so I"ll say 65%

now if I were hatching them here, I"d say 95%

Currently on the ground. The only nesting boxes I have I KNOW are not big enough for them. I told DH to try to build a little raised platform where they are laying to keep them off the ground. How big of a nest box do they need and how far off the ground should it be?

Turkey nest boxes should be big enough that the turkeys are able to turn around without damaging their tails. I would think for RPs that a 16 x 16 would work just fine, but bigger is usually better in my opinion. I've used old barrels turned on their sides. The only ones that have ever had a problem were the BBW when the flipped over and couldn't get back up.those were right on the ground, but blocked so the didn't roll.

My midgets coop is an old camper and they use the upper cabinets with the curtains hung over them. Dark is always best.

Hope that helps

My neighbor had given me an old, large doghouse sometime back, and that ends up with a turkey hen taking it over every summer. It's the first site to get claimed.

ProfTi....you have eggs headed your way....and so do you Betta, hope you are ready! I didn't send you the little egg, so I put in one of the crosses. I will hatch the little one myself.

Profti and all others who have gotten BS eggs from me...I found this interesting tidbit of info on Porter Turkeys website explaining breeding Blue Slate to Blue Slate, which is what I did:

Just want to make an important note here that most of the information found on some of the more popular websites on the results of breeding blue turkeys is inaccurate, the following is the correct results .

When breeding Slate to Slate, the results are turkeys of three different colors, Slate,Self Blue and Black.
When breeding Self Blue to Self Blue, only Self Blues result.
When breeding Self Blue to Black, only slates result.
When breeding Slate to Black both slates and blacks result, with no self blues.

Just so y'all know, you may not get just a Blue Slate.
bumping, just in case it was missed
