Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Morning all. So much for wishful thinking. 6" of snow so far. Got all the pens cleared off this morning and the pup was out romping in the snow. Not really all that cold outside. So as long as we keep power my biggest problem will be keeping the pens cleared off.

Incubating question: What do you do if one egg, that looked fine on day 18, has two tiny weeping spots on day 20 (like pinkish bubbles)?
There is no smell coming from the bator...but is it worth opening it up and checking it? Or just wait until hopefully others hatch? The temps and humidity are perfect...I would hate to ruin it all, but at the same time the idea of an exploding egg worries me. This egg is the only one that developed at all from it's shipment and all of the eggs were somewhat porous.

here is yesterdays hatch, if you can guess the breeds I just might send them to you to pay off some egg swaps.

I know I'm cruel. I see 6 different breeds. Have fun.

O this is fun!
I see Sulmtaler, Bielefelder, Partridge Barthuhner, Swedish Flower, Rhodebar and Jubilee Orpington

Have you candled it or even given it a sniff? If no smell then I would leave it and keep a close eye on it.

I tried candling through the window, but couldn't see anything that way, since I did not want to ruin lockdown conditions. No smell. What should I look for?

I am so annoyed with our post office. The last 3 shipments of eggs have had call for pickup on the box- all over the box and guess what? No call and it is delivered instead of me picking it up. I had one that was supposed to be in Saturday- it wasn't at the po and I found out Monday morning that it was attempted to be delivered and was about to go back out for delivery. They went in the back and brought me the eggs and he said, "well.. we left a note that we tried to deliver it"- I gave him the box back and told him to read the label. He said, "hmm.." I told him that was the third time in the last 2 weeks. He told me he would talk to his deliverer about it.

I go to the post office to drop my packages off and he tells me, "I can't accept these- they are regional rate boxes (I happened to mark out the regional rate on the boxes) and you haven't paid for regional rate. I go on to tell him that I have been shipping this way for the last 2 months because no other boxes are available from the post office. He tells me that they are having the same problem- can't get any boxes in. Then he tells me that he still can't accept them but if I would walk over to the self drop box he would catch the boxes and put them in the deliveries.

So, that's what I did (while rolling my eyes) and guess what? They were accepted and sent off to the main sorting facility in Knoxville last night and out to their delivery location this morning.
Its so funny- they guys in the back always call me for deliveries and the ones in the front couldn't care any less.
