Event: Easter Reverse Swap
When: March 30, 2013
Time: 5pm to 11pm EST
Participants: Members in good standing with the Swap Thread.
Rules: All members of the Swap thread are allowed to participate. In order to offer Spring or later eggs, you must be on the completely unrestricted list. Walli can post a list of all participants that are unrestricted. If you wish to be a main offerer please PM me and put Easter Swap in the subject line. Sign ups will end on March 23, 2013. This will not be a free for all. Names of individuals who signed up to offer will be drawn at random. If you are not on when your name is drawn then you will be skipped. If we have time at the end we will pick someone at random to put an offer up. Any good standing participant of the swap can try to claim an offer. There will be a 5 minute time limit for participants to put their offers up. Once the time is up we will move on to the next offer while the offerer is considering offers. You do not have to take any offers if there is nothing that appeals to you.

I got my GSBR eggs today!

1 was cracked in HALF but didn't really get on any other eggs and 1 had a nice dent but was not leaking. He used a foam shipper for 3 doz (the 2 that broke were in the foam shippers) and another doz in an egg carton... no padding but they were fine. I was concerned when I put the box in the car and there was egg leaking... but overall I am HAPPY! Now to just get them to hatch

On a SAD note... My Blue Copper Marans Roo died today. I think it was his heart.... I lost his brother in the fall and it was his heart too I think. I do have backup roos so now down time for eggs.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. How do the aircells look? Mine were a wreck when I got them.

I didn't know if I had to elaborate on my package from crfarm. My kids have kept me extremely busy and worn out the last few days so I keep trying to read and post stuff but along with the super slow old modem it has not been easy. I don't know what other shipments look like because this was my very first one!

But it looked fantastic! Not even a scratch. It even answered a question I was going to ask. I was going to ask if you ship eggs on there sides, narrow end up or narrow end down? I figured narrow end down but wanted to double check well now I know. All the eggs look beautiful and have beautiful color. I tried to candle them but first off I am a total noob second they are Marans eggs, who can candle those!! I even got 4 extra eggs

so now let's hope I don't mess it up! I had them set for 12 hrs they are now in the incubator with the turner off. I read that you should leave the egg turner off for shipped eggs for 36-48 hrs- should I? Or should I turn it on now? I think that 36-48 hr thing might have been for detached air cells/sacks(?), but how do I tell when I can't even find the air cell/sacks(?) so what should I do?

I have read no turning help.... can't hurt really. I can't not turn my eggs since it is a huge bator full of eggs and they do ok. Since you can't see in the eggs set them and don't worry about them till day 14. If they are CLEAR at day 14 you can toss them. I let everything else go to lockdown if I can't tell what is going on.... as long as they don't stink.

To candle eggs you need to be in a TOTALLY DARK ROOM! No windows!

Hey everybody! 1 week until I start my trip!! Looks like I am going to be moving ALOT of chickens around this trip! I hope the weather clears up for this trip!! OK could everyone I am meeting send my your phone number and address where I am meeting you. I will call and let you know when I should be to you based off my GPS. I am sleeping in my truck so should get further each day then I originally thought. Please label carriers with BYC name of person receiving. I am worried I will get something mixed up! Here is a pic of my truck, so if we are meeting you can find me!




Older chicks will be in the bed, I will have some room in the cab for youngsters, but I travel with three border collies so space will be limited! I can't wait to meet everyone!

My hatch is done. The incubator is cleaned and off. I promised my Mr that I'd turn it off for a while. (He doesn't realize that I've claimed chicks instead of eggs!

)

I'm actually looking forward to a break from hatching... in May, maybe!

This weather keeps up, I will be able to offer a new turkey breed. Very, very rare!!!

I have driven across country a few times. Well 4 times myself. I love it! It is fun to stop and see everything.

I've always wanted to do that and never gotten the chance to yet. Have a great time! And
