I have to agree! My birds came from yours and Rachael's eggs the beginning of 2012. I love, love, love them too :) Especially since my original plan was for only useful large fowl. The Seramas bombed that plan with their 200% cuteness.

Welcome COF!!

Does anyone want to buy a pair of bielefelders? The pullet is 6-8 weeks old and the roo 4-6 weeks old. I'll give you a good deal they are from GFF directly. I already have 9 hens and 3 roo's so I thought I might share.

Does anyone I owe chicks to or BM6 want a box of cuckoo marans chicks today? They hatched last night. If we owe you eggs pick at least 3 swaps you would like to cancel for them. If you would just like to buy them make me an offer. They are from dmripy's eggs. I think there are 8 of them.

Oh, that's such a lovely way to start my "morning", catching up on the thread! Hi everybody! Those of you with bug obsessions, I will happily admire your beasties -- just not in my house, lol! I actually can kinda sorta get the fascination, I just can't seem to share it

GOOD NEWS everyone!!!

I passed my thesis defense yesterday and only have a few minor grammatical revisions to make. I'm getting closer and closer to graduation.

x2!!!! I originally intended to have good-laying, productive LF only... Then I really fell for barnyard fowl and decided I needed a house chicken... or three. I have to say the eggs my two grown-up girls lay are fairly decent-sized for a serama... and YUMMY!

Hee! I can so relate, MrsMoonCat.

You have nine bielefelder hens??? Isn't there like a quota or something?

Okay, I need some help. This is my first year having so many different age groups in chicks.

I won't be doing this again. I have 2 grow out coops right now. One with my bantam wyandottes that is unheated and one with all the other breeds that has a heat lamp. There are some in the heated coop that could definitely come out since I'm sure they are stealing the heat from the slower growing chicks. Can I put them in with the wyandottes. I will have an open coop this weekend but I was hoping to put out the rest of the chicks I have in the house. I guess I could move them to that coop and keep the chicks inside for a bit longer. DH should be home in 3 weeks and we'll get the wyandotte coop and pen up in about a week. Yup, no rest for the wicked. So can I put them in with the wyandottes, they are slightly bigger the wyandottes are. Or should I just start putting them in their own coop to grow out and go from there? Thanks!

OMG I almost wish I had swaps with you!! But lucky me most of the eggs I have from DMRippy look like they are developing plus I'm getting more!

and I really bon't need anymore! I am already over 100 chicks with just the spring chick shipments nevermind the chicks that hatch for me! and boy I barely have the room for that!

How different are peacock eggs? Other than the obvious though. Are they any harder to care for as chicks?

Yes they need a teacher chick to show them how. They are 28 days not 21 to hatch. They can jump pretty high at a young age so can jump out of my tote brooder boxes much earlier than the chickens.
