I am big on excel spread sheets for tracking everything. I have one for each breed of goose where we have multiple breeding pairs and or colors to trace which goslings come from which pairs. I have one for customers and one for swaps. Nice thing with excel is I can have them as pages in one "book"

A general hatch log excel sheet that tracks set date, hatch dates, approximate date to expect them to lay, number set, number hatched, number available

Morning guys! I woke up to 7 beautiful dead baby buns

She didn't cover them at all and they got cold. One was a beautiful little chocolate too. I'm hoping this is just first time mom error.

I'm so sorry

Hopefully next time she will do better

You don't have them shrink wrap on you? I have heard such horror stories about it that I am paranoid. If it won't shrink wrap them, I will grab her out right away.

Yes, go snatch her up right away!

I remove chicks all the time. Once things seem to be getting crowded in there I go in a snatch a bunch. Just do it super quick and if you can give a squirt with a warm mister even better.

My hatcher is always going and I never have any down time between eggs. Last night it definitely needed a cleaning and I had unhatched eggs in it and more needed to go in from the cabinet. So...I grab all the eggs (a few were pipped) and placed them in a tupperware container with a warm wet paper towel over it. Placed that in the bottom of the cabinet and took my sweet time scrubbing/disinfecting the hatcher. After everything was back up to temp I moved the eggs back.

This morning I woke up to a bunch of lttle Seremas and my first Muscovy

Are pea combs dominant? I am guessing the are...
I was so worried about not being able to tell my BCM chicks apart from the OEs that look just like it... Until I noticed all my OEs have pea combs! That's a relief. I double checked, since when they hatched and since I have been using nail polish, so they are all still marked. Also just had another OE hatch and it has a pea comb. These are from my BCM too and my silver ameruacana hen.
