I picked up my seven calico cochin bantams today. They look like they range in age from a couple of days to two weeks. These are the mellowist chicks I have ever seen. I've never had cochins is that just their personality or were they really handled a lot? My goofy Arkansas Blues (while in brooder and confined) are psychos. They calm down once they have some space.
gotta love some autocorrect!

I hatched out a solitary bourbon a few days ago and it seemed fine. I guess I didn't pay as much attention to how it was doing as I did last time because they seemed to learn quickly in a group. This little one still seems very dazed and fragile. So I removed it with a few Mille Fleur Cochin babies and made eggs and put down water. I didn't force feed it but I put egg mash in its beak. I'm really hoping it makes it through the next 24 hours and I know now to pay more attention to those poults the first week to two.
