Good morning everyone we r planning on building 2 chicken tractors today or 4, anyone got any great plans, I want to build something fictional and good looking, first to get the brakes finished on the truck
I think I would prefer to have something NON-fictional!

Thanks for the laugh!

What would make eggs set on the 14th explode today. I walked in my house and could smell it. I checked and two eggs I had received on the 13th and set on the fourteenth exploded. I've never had this happen before. Especially this early. Got any ideas. I have a mess to clean.

If the eggs were old when they were sent, that would do it. I don't think I've ever had eggs explode on day 9!

That's the only thing I can think of, but these were from the swaps. I did ask them to hold off shipping until the eighth and they agreed, but I wouldn't think they held the eggs. Well I guess I wouldn't. I'm pretty upset, as this ruined a LOT of eggs. I got the incubator emptied and outside for airing and leaning. What a mess. I've never even had an egg explode in an incubator before. Had a hen have every egg she was sitting on go bad and some explode, but never in an incubator. It's just gross. I'm so made I could just cry.

Spent the morning at a chicken swap. I'm exhausted. Got rid of some chickens, so that was great. Someone was selling ex leghorns for $4 each. I almost bought some, but just couldn't do it. Also met a local silkied am breeder. I managed to not buy anything except for the two blue silkied Ams for new blood.
Also met a Emu breeder. He had a bunch for sale $50-$60 and I would have gone home with two if I had made a little more money. I guess that's a good thing.

I am so sorry to hear that! Never had a exploding egg, or a real stinker yet either. Not looking forward to the day. What are the chances of the eggs it was near being ok?

Once again, Pysankygirl's Barnevelders are popping fast. And a day early. I checked this morning before beginning to clean cages. I saw one pip. By the time I finished all four cages, she was out and others were pipped. 6/8 went to lockdown. Last time all the ones that went to lockdown hatched, so I've got my fingers crossed for a repeat!
