I have a ton of birds to ship this next week. I am rethinking how we box and how we label them. All of our geese are wing banded with numbers and our farm name and we record wing band numbers. Now to think how to protect the chicks and ducklings.

The box we sent that was ripped open had 2 zip ties per side AND packing taped wrapped over them, along with the shipping label over the top. The zip ties were gone, the side was torn half way down and the entire thing taped back shut.

triple wow, they took Ancona ducklings and Silver Appleyards leaving ALL the khaki ducklings.

the poor LLO flock has had drama from moment one trying to get them shipped too. Incompitent postal workers who dont know the shipping regs trying to tell shippers how to do things.

Hi All!!!

So many of you have asked for an update on the chick debacle. Honestly, I was trying avoid it. It is a terrible ending. The "nice" and totally irresponsible people at the airport who gave my chicks water after they had been bumped for 8 flights, put the water cup too high up in the box so the chicks could not drink it. They did not remove the water before the flight, so the birds were flown with a full container of water, none of which they were able to actually drink. About 70 birds arrived in MN in 28 degree weather soaking wet. I lost 16 of Reese's birds. All of COF chicks that did arrive arrived alive. They problem is 17 chicks were just missing. Gone, no corpses. Like I wouldn't notice that I received half the chicks that were sent. My assumption is that they died in TN and someone tossed them because they didn't want to liable.

Okay. If someone wants to make a BOATLOAD of money, they need to open their own shipping company for live poultry and hatching eggs.
