Question for the turkey people: how long can I expect my turkeys to keep laying eggs?

Wait. . . Isn't it nice that he asked to give them food and water? I mean no its not legal but it personally I would tell him thank you for caring enough to ask. He prolly doesn't know anything about chickens and was trying to be as helpful as he could at that particular time. As someone who worked in a post office we catch a lot of flack for things that aren't our fault and sometimes for even trying to be helpful which is perhaps the worst thing.
It's not one person who delivers your mail it's a network. Networks sometimes get complicated and require time to fix. so Things aren't as simple as guy A has your package it's group of guys A in sub group Y on the red line have your package and we have to figure out which one before they all get off work.

Yes! And I did thank them profusely last week when they did this for two other boxea of birda that they held for three days. The only problem with their helpfulness is that they left the water in the box with the birds, put them on a plane to minnesota. 25 birds arrive soaking wet on the tarmac in 28 degree weather killing 16 birds. Another box arrived opened with half of the birds missing....only the rare half. So a week ago, I would have been and was thrilled by their support. After that, I prefer to take my chances. My birds would have been better off.[/quote]
Okay yea your right they are dumb. Helpful but dumb.
Some people's kids I swear.

I have heard they will lay up to 100 eggs or so as long as you keep taking them from the nest....mine have been laying since the end of january, and still going at it.
I can't swap yet my account isn't three months old yet

I've only be a member for like . . .5 days now I think.
you can side swap, I think.

lol...turkeys roost anywhere they take a mind to, unless you run them into the coop at night.
well, except the broad breasted kind, but those aren't for keeping, they re for eating...

Ain't nobody eatin my fat girl!
400

And if you tried to you better have at least fifty other people to eat all the evidence!

But yes she's right BB varieties are not bred for longevity. Eva is 2 now and that's old for fat girls.

the feed store generally sells only the broad breasted variety, and they get so large they have health issues, they are supposed to be for eating....you need to swap for some heritage birds, if you plan on keeping them

Get them from krazykat.....they always hatch....great, healthy stock. Or aye.... I would send them to you, but my girls are officially on strike!

Thanks! I think I'll swap for a few more weeks and then leave them for a while to see if they will hatch some for me.
