Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I am happy to report that my mis-delivered eggs have safely arrived. My carrier hand delivered them. The man who got them took them back to the PO today. My carrier told me to be sure to tell the PO if they don't hatch as expected. I kind of laughed and told her that the PO doesn't cover hatching eggs. She was flabbergasted. "But we screwed up! not you, not the shipper, it was our fault!" She then said to tell her, and she herself would reimburse me for the eggs. I like my local PO.

Now that is true old fashioned customer service. Kudos to your local PO.

Sounds like neither one of us is ever going to get a garden in. You from snow and me from mud. Everytime it dries out to where we might be able to plant or till, it comes another flood.

I'd give turkey hugs if my turkey was big enough. LOL It would just have to be a turkey whistle.

Baby turkey hugs are the best. How old are your babies????

Maybe I just need to PM you all that this applies to, but I would DEFINITELY want to trade any eggs owed for chicks, and am more than happy to pay extra shipping costs... I have been having abyssmal hatching rates from shipped eggs, actually making me a little nauseated, considering all the plants I've sent (which should grow unless totally left unattended) and all the PP that has been sent...

Also... really hoping to hear all your thoughts on my next couple of questions, hope this doesn't get buried, either...

For all of you that are breeding, with the intent to improve the breed/work on SOP, are you line-breeding or flock-breeding and why did you chose the option you did??

In my last 2 hatches of my own eggs (really good hatching rates from my own eggs as opposed to shipped eggs, BTW) I have had one chick in each hatch that started zipping, kept zipping but at some point didn't keep cracking the shell and eventually got far enough underneath that they suffocated... Why would that happen?

Thanks for all the opinions in advance, I respect all of ya'lls experience!!!
Reposting... hoping for a couple of responses???

Is anyone having any luck selling Olive Egger Chicks? I can't seem to GIVE them away right now am I the only one? I had people ask for them but so far no takers. I think I hatched my last batch today. Might have to wait and sell the pullets when they are older.
My Olive Eggers are just in demand as the Marans... I sell them before they hatch....

we are flooded

it rained, poured buckets actually, all night. Our goat pen in an ankle deep mud pit, the back pasture we had just gotten dry enough to seed is under water, the front where the LLO and Ancona go during the day is half under water. The Bresse looked at me like I was nuts for thinking they should be on the ground in a new pen after last nights rains. This morning I feel like we went 2 steps forward this weekend and over night fell 10 back.
Oh, so sorry!!
