Hmmm.... maybe Montana would work for you? Haha, it's FREEZING there, too, but hey, I'm an ID it gets cold here, too, though, but no hurricanes or tornadoes, but they do say we have some risk of earthquake...

I had a chick with a bubble under its skin on its rump and it went down in a day, but the skin stayed baggy for about a month. It is totally healthy and normal now

Good luck. Hopefully the poor thing is not too uncomfortable.

Wonder if anyone else has observed this...I always put my eggs in cartons upright but for some reason for those that need help getting out, once i've zipped for them and removed the cap they always seem to do better getting out on their own if I then place them on the side instead of leaving upright. I just wonder if the urge to push up and out is no longer as strong because they are no longer covered? It is really interesting that they seem to be able to make judgments about what they need to do...like its not a pre-programed set of steps...iow since I've already zipped for them, they seem to know they don't need zip anymore...just kinda neat

I used to breed and raise parrots. When we needed to transport the newly hatched chicks we would bake potatoes and wrap them in aluminum foil then in towels and place them in coolers with the chicks to keep them warm. I think you could regulate the heat with potatoes better then rocks, which could get extremely hot.

Just a though, but you need to get as many things IN your bator to HOLD the heat longer too. Water bottles, bricks anything to keep the temp up for as long as possible.

I do hope the electricity is not out for days on days.
