My cream legbar pullet just layed her first egg today. I am so excited. Happy Thanksgiving to me.

Anyone know of anyplace putting their incubators on sale for the black friday/cyber monday silliness?? I think I need another hatcher ;)

Ahhhh!! I hadn't even thought about incubators for Black Friday!! It's good I told my husband I wasn't doing any BF shopping- so I can't pretend like I really needed an incubator haha

I know I'm not authorized for swapping yet, but I wanted to come to this thread and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving anyway; hope that's okay.
So Happy Thanksgiving!:)

I'd say you are always welcome to chat on this board. I let myself right in, so I'd assume you could do it to ;)
Happy thanksgiving!

As for the quail thing- I must have been thinking the eggs where bigger then coturnix, which made me think the birds where as well. Sorry! I really want some, but it is hard enough for me to wait 6 weeks for my coturnies to lay... I would be going bonkers at 6 months!!

It's the "You must be a member in good standing for 3 months to join" pre-requisite for the swap that is holding her back, I think :)

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too CluckyCharms! Looking forward to you joining us in a month or so :)

KYTinpusher,

I should have two total swaps to date. They are the following:
11/10 post 2870 ccl from babymakes6
11/16 post 3082 cl from madam wolf

Thank you,
Dee

Should I open?????

I have chicks hatching! Problem is the first 2 hatched at 6 yesterday morning then a couple more, then a couple more etc., one just hatched 5 min. ago. There are stil 6 eggs pipped and breathing. The first ones hatched are cheeping non stop! I have never had them hatch this far apart. Should I open and put the dry ones in the brooder?

I would not...remember, the chicks can survive 3 days on the yoke they absorb. I bet those pipped eggs will be hatched tomorrow.

I know this is not what most people do, but I take them out immediately and let them fluff out in the brooder. I don't like having them bop around jostling the unhatched eggs, and the fluff gets all up into the fan motor. I usually put a wet paper towel in to compensate for any loss of humidity and so far have not had any problems. It also helps my bator not get so dirty because they are not in there long enough to poop on anything so cleanup is easier.
