Here are the babies as of this morning! 3 went to a new home, the 2 buttercups and the turken.

Here are the babies now! Not really babies anymore! The LF boys will be going to freezer camp unless someone wants to buy one and the others are just happy happy happy!

Going to try Bantam Cochins, button quails and ducks...but not sure what type yet

I am so glad I found this post. My kindergarten class is hatching eggs this year for the first time! We are all so excited.The embryology professor from UCONN taught the 4H groups and a few teachers how to open an egg while it is in day 3 and watch it continue to grow for up to 14 days. It is amazing to see the development from just one day to the next. My students are using words like fertilized and embryo in their writing and daily conversation. I love seeing the excitement that goes along with learning something new.

Day 6 Later in the day. Veins grow substantially.

Interesting pics, but I don't think I could do that part.

I have 3 preschools that I'll be working with in April. We're doing a test hatch at home to see how the eggs from my newer hens are doing. Two hens' eggs are not fertile!!! I'm surprised. I set 3 eggs from each hen, so out of the 18 eggs - only 12 were actually fertile. Out of those 12, 10 have dancing embryos. The hatch date is March 18th.

At least I know not to give those hens' eggs to the schools. Our former roo was so hard on the hens, but all were fertile. (even for 2-3 weeks after he left!) Our new boy is a gentleman & doesn't force the girls.

I am hatching with my preschool class in April also...can't wait!!!! It is my favorite time of the school year
