Hi there,
In the post this morning I received my 6 Jersey Giant eggs. I'm using a Brinscall mini advance incubator (but it's an old ish one not one of the new ones) I'm going to let the eggs sit until I get home from work tomorrow at about four pm. Is there anything I need to check on the eggs now by candling them. They're all the right way up. Any help would be really appreciated as I'm very new to this!
If anyone has any experience with these incubators that would be fab!

One thing I have always done is turn the eggs every twelve hours to ensure no sticking to the eggshell. Where they are end up, I’m not sure if this applies, but I have always been told to turn them twice a day even before they go into the incubator. Another tip is, set the incubator up and have it running at the correct humidity and temp BEFORE setting the gas in! You don’t want to be messin* with the temp and humidity and lifting the lid off a bunch after putting the eggs in.

Hi there,
Thanks for advice. I've got the incubator set up now so that it will be all ready for the eggs tomorrow!
Read the article on Hatching 101 with Sally Sunshine on here, it has all the information you need. With shipped eggs it helps to candle before putting them in the incubator just to see what has happened to your air cells. Sometimes they can become detached and they will look a little 'slippery' when you candle them or they can be 'saddled' which means that they will have a wonky outline instead of straight around the egg. If yours have either of these, wait for about 24 -48 hours before incubating to allow the cells to settle down without turning them, just let them be quiet. They have been through quite a journey to get to you. Good luck with your hatch and please let us know how it goes!

With your incubator, make sure to use calibrated hygrometers and thermometers so that you know exactly what is going on. I am not familiar with your incubator so I cannot help you there but please make sure you know your instruments so you can have a successful hatch.
