Love the turkey baster idea! I linked bendable straws together and used a bottle with a narrow tip (like the plastic catchup bottles) to squirt the water into one end of the straw. Was an easy way to aim the water where I wanted it.

Also, keep a watch on your air cells if you stay with 40% or higher humidity. I’m in a very humid area, so I run 25-30%. Check out the article in my signature line in red if you need some guidance on what will work better for you.

Thank you! I will read your article. This experience is sooo different than my other experience. First the flashlight is so much better but also the eggs are wayyyy bigger than the duck egg I initially found! Also seeing the veining and eyeball is a trip! Wow! Quackers egg was so hard to see into and mostly mottled looking, could have been my bad flashlight but I cannot believe how clearly I can see everything! Also you can see the embryos moving!! It’s been fascinating! also having an incubator that Keeps temperature consisent has been such a relief. Blows my mind.

I candied the eggs after a week and 3 if the 20 had nothing happening so I got rid of those. There’s 1 or 2 with saddled shaped air sac and 1 with air sac on the wrong end... what do
I do about those? Any advice?

Good light does make all the difference. I don’t toss any eggs until at least half way as I’m not confident enough in what I’m seeing, although if they are totally clear I could probably figure that out. I don’t think there is anything you can do about the air cells, just watch them closely at hatch. I had to assist one of mine.

I just candled all of them now at day 10 and 1 had a blood ring and a dark spot but no veins, so we tossed it and it had nothing in it. I just don’t want any explosions in incubator.

How's the incubation going? Today should be day 27 right?
Okay so I had lots of internal pips at day 26 & 27.

Initially i bought 20 eggs, 5 never developed, 1 I lost halfway thru/ just never developed. So that left 14.

Been up for 2 days with these eggs and I have 13 ducklings, yay! :wee:love:eek:

I would have had 14 but the first guy out was kicking so vigorously that he kicked off shell and umbilical cord & bled out. I had no idea that could even happen and bator was so full I couldn’t see any blood till I picked him up... :(
So after that I watched like and hawk and 1 more did same but I was right there and scooped the little guy up
And applied pressure and put him in a cup till it all dried up and he’s okay!
had 2 Malpositioned so pip at wrong end but I got them out okay. This hatching business has quite the learning curve!

I have 6 Pekin 5 Rouen 4 Cayuga
I just pulled the last 3 out of incubator this morning.

I have 2 broody ducks, one's nest is due in a few days, the other in a 3 weeks or so, so I'm gonna be in the same boat, ducklings everywhere!!
