AWWWW! don`t you love the sound of thier feet make when the run across the black top. In my house it is the opposite. Its my wife who want the birds gone. They like to hang out on my front porch.(They wait for me to come out) My wife will say "Those chickens are on the front porch again" Befor she can complain about all the poop I say " I know! they are annoying the hell out of me, They keep ringing the doorbell and running" Then I walk away and smerk to myself.
If you really want to keep them ask your husband nicely. If he still says no you say no if you know what I mean.

I second the weird... One dies and all of a sudden they all have to go?? I don't get the connection, esp after having them for 3 months.

I really hope you keep your chickens. And all of our smell problems vanished when we moved away from pine shavings. Sand is amazing; like a little dehydrator. If you don't want to use sand, those pine horse stall pellets are really awesome too.

Your husband wants to rob his wife and kids of something they enjoy? I see a bigger problem than a dead chicken. Thats very sad that he is willing to hurt his family for no good reason

That is so very sad. I am sorry for the loss of the chicken, then the flock, and for having to be treated that way. No person should be controlled like that.

Id love to see what would happen if i told my wife she had to get rid of something I have a feeling the chickens would be makin room for me in the coop!!!!!! My wife said one day I want a horse and the next summer I built a pasture and we have a horse easier to keep her happy than fight...

I think your husband is being a jerk. If he doesn't have to clean the coop, tell him to stuff it.

And yeah...I am married...happily for 23 years. My husband would never try to make a blanket decree like that. He respects me too much.

ok my say so now, \\
you keep the sweet chicks and the kids and you get rid
of that sob husband and his body odor

my chicken house don't smell at all. i have pine shaving down on the floor where they perch at night. i clean out the total pine shaving once a month and it is close to 100 degree here for the last 3 weeks n next week it going to be still 100 i want winter now.

It took me awhile to figure this one out. When the cost came up this summer I reminded my husband of his high end snow machine. While I'd love that he have a better, newer one--I don't think I've spent 1/3 of what he has so far. His ride doesn't give me eggs or the life lesson that live animals do. When it comes down to it, he understands. Have you reached that point yet? Speak up 'cause once he's given the ultimatum, you can't go back.

Get the coop out of the garage & the smell will be better. Is their "coop" in the garage actually freestanding?? Get a really large dog house or chain link kennel to make into a coop for the 5 survivors if it is not. No way would I give up that easily. Good luck.
