I have wanted goats for YEARS I BEGGED my mom for 10 years LOL, but now you guys have ruined them for me.
I have had squirrels and have known a person who had a pet possum. I think possums are one of the coolest pet Ideas on earth, with their grabby feet and prehensile tails ....
I knew a guy in school who had a squirrel, found a litter as babies, bottle fed them, only one lived, his name was Bunkbed, and he was the coolest thing, he ened up hanging himself in the blind string thing in the window though, my cousins raised up a litter of red fox kits when their dog killed the mother right outside the den and brought them the 7 kits without so much as a scratch, now THEY were awesome and I have been hooked ever since!, very cat like in almost every behavior, better mousers than their cats too! they raised them in the house untila bout 3 months, they got into EVERYTHING, once they could hunt for themselves they let them wonder off, of the 2 that stuck around, one is a vixen, now 5 years old, and every year she brings a litter of kits to the house, she's very much wild now though, as are the kits obviously, but the cousins say she doesn't up and take off, she just trots away, looking back at them with this look of remembering in her eyes...very sweet.they said that there was been a few times, when she has stopped, turned around taken a few steps back towards my cousin Sicily (who mainly bottle fed them), then the fox would look back at her kits, and turn towards them and leave, I think thats awesome.
I don't mean to laugh, but dang, you have had some issues
tell me about it LOL, I learned bery early on, you REALLY shouldn't name your fish, maybe people with back luck should let their pets name themselves?, giving them gooshy human names kills them apparently
Hmmm, well, I can't think of any pet I haven't liked. I guess I'm a sucker, if it gives me "the look" I'm all goo. I did have a Quaker once that I couldn't wait to rehome, but I really did like him, he was just a major PITA. Squaked at 5 am, didn't stop all day, whenever you took him out, he attacked your hands, then would dive bomb your head, hated my hubby, but he was so good when he was quiet (maybe 2 hours a day) ! I haven'tpersonally had any "livestock" besides chickens, but I love cows, horses, sheep and pigs, my stepdads family raised them all. As for goats, I never had the pleasure of ones company besides the petting zoo. Guess I'm just one of those people....... I'll adopt anything!!!
Although, I have a few breeds of dog that you couldn't pay me to own, among them Pits (love other peoples, just not for me), Labs (chew, eat, jump, and destroy ANYTHING), Min Pins (aggressive little beasts, was the only dogs that EVER bit me in my 6 years of Vet Tech carreer, 3 different dogs!), and Poodles (love other peoples, just too frufru for my tastes).
I've had:
mice
rats
snakes
hamsters
fish
dogs
cats
wolves
ferrets
birds
turtles
chickens
rabbits (even wild bottle fed)
squirrels
sugar gliders
lizards of all kinds
human kids
a hubby
tell me about it LOL, I learned bery early on, you REALLY shouldn't name your fish, maybe people with back luck should let their pets name themselves?, giving them gooshy human names kills them apparently
I've stopped giving "unique" names to my chickens just recently. Still recovering from my losses the past 2 months, so the 4 in my coop that are left have generic names, "hank, herman, henrietta, and tweety" and the lil nuggets....well their names are "nuggets" Every one i've had with unique names were ett >eaten< by something! Do you think it's the unique-ness of the names that call the predators to them?

Goats are not all that terrible. They do require work (hoof trims, vaccinations, etc.) but their personalities really make up for the work. If you have a good fence with some electric fencing and plenty for them to munch on, you won't have issues with them trying to get out.
I have goats and love them. They all have their own personalities, and I actually love the trouble they cause. We had a problem with the 2 Boers jumping the 4ft fence. So we recently replaced it with 6ft high, 2x4 welded wire, stapled to posts that were dug down 2ft and then cemented in. We found a really good deal that saved us almost $200 on all of it. The pygmy looks like a cat standing next to it. We then ran boards about 3ft up on the outside so when they rub, it does not bend. Ours are normally quiet, unless they think they hear someone outside. They are really funny when the chickens free range with them. They will follow the birds around, and try to eat what they are eating. They will try to rub themselves against our cats too.
I could never keep reptiles alive. My cat ate my first two Anoles, and then the others would die or escape within 2 months.
I have had dogs, cats, guinea pigs, a squirrel, rabbits, hamsters, fish, birds, hermit crabs, lizards, snakes, a tree frog, and chickens. I loved pretty much all for, except for the reptiles.

I have a lovebird. Not 2, but 1 & he drives my whole family crazy! My mom keeps saying we are either going to give him (I think) away or we are going to get him a mate. It has'nt happend yet & I don't think it will. We have had him for 6 years now..... I hope he doesn't live forever!
