Hawks =0, hummingbirds/crows/chickens=priceless

I think that is a great story....put a big smile on my face.


But I did lose 2 of my lavender orpington chicks to a red shouldered hawk, a few weeks ago...the first one just disappeared, the 2nd just after we let the chickens out to free range.
It was a horrible sight...I still get choked up.

We kept all the chickens in the run, its netted over on the top. Made sure there were NO holes, added some shade cloth.
We'll keep them locked up until the chicks are much bigger and when we do let them out, it'll just be for a couple of hours, not all afternoon.
