Heat bulb for bobwhite quail chicks?

Went out and got this heating pad! Thanks guys! Hopefully its warm enough should I leave it on the highest setting?

Yes. Gradually turn it down every couple of weeks. The babies will tell you when it's time to turn the heat down a notch.
You can make it MHP style and drape it over something to make it like a cozy cave.

If it is too hot, they'll avoid it. If it is too cool, they'll stay on it around the clock.
 
I made my rack with some scrap lumber ripped down to 1 1/2 x 1/2, 1/2” hardware cloth, and some carriage bolts with wing nuts. Nice & easy to loosen the upper wing nuts, raise the rack, and then tighten the lower wing nuts to make it higher as the chicks grow. I used an old T-shirt to wrap the heating pad, and bungee cords to attach it to the underside of the rack. I had a half sheet of thin (1/8”) plywood that I cut to size to cover it, so the pad didn’t get poop on it. Cardboard would work just as well, though.

I clipped my heating pad to the side of my brooder so that it laid up against the wall of the brooder and skirted out 4 inches on the bottom. L shaped.
It worked perfectly for 13 quail.
