Heated chicken waterer?

That is what I use.

I love it, super sturdy, safe on plastic/rubber and safe if run dry.

I put mine in a black rubber pan.

I might try that one just unsure of them. I would hate for there to be a fire.

For me, I prefer the horizontal nipples, so their wattles don’t get wet, and freeze. I don’t think you need to worry about fire with any of the ones mentioned. The don’t get that warm-they just heat enough to get above freezing.

This is a pic of the heater I use, you can get 150w or 250w. Both are good. I got mine at Amazon, and I’ve gotten them at Fleet Farm. (I’m in Minnesota).

What was the price for these? I might try it.

No I haven't tried that one. I have never had any luck with that type of waterer. When I tried using one it leaked all the water out in a matter of an hour or so. That type of waterer has to be kept perfectly level or it does not work correctly.

Whenever you use electric there is fire risk.


With that heater though, the only risk is at the plug.

Rig it up so birds can't knock it out of the plug, or make it loose.

The risk is pulling the plug out just a little, and then something flammable getting into the gap.

I duct tape all plug to plug connections and rig up plug to outlet connections so that risk is as close to nil as possible.

Yes.

Those come in many sizes.

I pick tiny and wedge it if I use it for ducks, so they can't bathe in it.

However, for chickens I pick sizes like what you linked.

They aren't good for tiny chicks. When I have chicks in the flock I put rocks in the pan so none drown.

I use this. Plug in is behind bucket, so chickens don’t bother it. I can keep this in the coop because of no moisture worries.
