Heated chicken waterer?

I have been looking for a heated chicken waterer, don't know which one I should use. Is it better to use a heated waterer base or the actual heated waterer? Thank you in advance

I've never used a heated waterer, but I know some people who do use them. They use one that has the actual waterer heated, and it seems to work well, but I'm not sure which one is better.

I use a 5 gallon bucket with horizontal nipples year round. In freezing weather I put a stock tank heater in it. Works great all winter and lows get -25°F to -30°F at the coldest here typically.

I don't know which one is better and it gets pretty cold here in Wisconsin.

This is a pic of the heater I use, you can get 150w or 250w. Both are good. I got mine at Amazon, and I’ve gotten them at Fleet Farm. (I’m in Minnesota).

I use a system like mamajos except I use a 14 gallon tote with lid instead of a bucket. Only needs refilled every couple weeks with just 6 chickens. It's been as cold as -26 F and the water stayed thawed. I use this stock tank deicer.

That is what I use.

I love it, super sturdy, safe on plastic/rubber and safe if run dry.

I put mine in a black rubber pan.
