Hello all.....My scovies eating woodstove ashs like candy....

I thought some might find this interesting...I thought my ducks were just playing in the ashs.Stored in five gallon buckets for the winter to place on my garded..I was sittin an watchin them the other day and one hen would get a mouthfull then a drink then again and again for around ten times....They keep the underside of my rabbit hutches clean aswell....Thoughts...?
 
I don't know anything about ducks but saw this thread in the list- my chickens eat ashes and charcoal and it turns the poo black LOL.

That may explain the black poo around my shop....I thought it was from them eating the rabbit dropping....hummm

You say chickens eat it too......
 
No way! The chickens too! I wonder what they see in it.

Woodstove ashes are about 50% calcium. There are trace minerals in ashes. Yum!
