Hello chickens & chicken lovers!

I’ve been using the BYC blog as a resource since I began my chicken raising journey last December. What started as a passing thought while sitting in the patio with my partner one night... ‘hey that old dog house sitting in the dirt of the unused corner of the backyard would make a decent chicken coop’ crazy idea has turned into a passion!

I’ve learned so much and had such fun raising my 6 hens in my backyard tiny-farm. I got them in 2 groups of 3 from a wonderful local farm. In the second group one turned out to be a rooster which we couldn’t keep - that broke my heart (but the neighbors were relieved hahaha). The farm took him back and gave us one more hen to make our flock of 6.
