Hello. First timer here.

Should I build my coop in barn or as a free standing structure?

Hi chicken lovers. Just moved to the Ohio countryside with my hubs , 4 children, 2 dogs and now 15 chicks. They are a mix...for rainbow eggs and I'm not quite certain of the breeds. Yet. I'm considering building a coop in our pole barn which will eventually house other animals and a workshop on the opposite side. I know convenience wise it would be smart to build the coop there but would I benefit from them being in their own area away from pole barn? I'm searching for some coop designs in barns now. Thx for any input and ideas you may have

Best of luck with your coop build!

Several months ago, I followed a thread about someone building their coop under a pole barn and it seemed to work very well for them. The coop had plenty of windows and they did have a fenced run going around the whole set up so the birds got plenty of sunshine. Try using the Search Forums feature and maybe you can find examples of other people that have done something like what you are considering.

Hope it works out well for you, thanks for joining us!
