So by keeping it small this coming year, how many total chickens are you trying to have? I know you mentioned wanting to stick to one breed, the blue egg layers, I have a hard time spelling that breed, so I call em blue egg layers

I gonna really try to stick to 12..ish :-D (And yes, i spell it wrong almost every other time I write it down LOL!)

12 is a good number to stay with. I feel like the less chickens I have the more individual attention I can give them.

Welcome from western Ohio! I’m north of you, but used to lived in Hamilton county, not too far from Warren county.

I think it’s very silly when there are several-acres-required restrictions on small farm animals. 5 acres for a flock of chickens is pretty ridiculous. I can understand acreage requirements on larger animals, but chickens, rabbits, goats, ducks, and even turkeys shouldn’t require much land especially when just for personal use/enjoyment.
