I have loved animals all my life and have been rescuing them for about as long. I grew up as a kid in a military family but currently live in the panhandle of Florida.

I have a degree in Criminal Justice but most of my work so far has been in the non-profit sector and hospitality.

I love coffee, red wine, bike rides, hiking, anything crime or forensics related, reading, science, NPR, cooking, playing Two Dots.

I live with my SO and 13-year-old daughter, 1 dog, 1 cat, some fish, and 7 chickens.

I am very new to chickens and am learning a lot!

Nice to meet you. The two things that I cannot do without are NPR and the New Yorker magazine. I like science related reading, used to be an avid cyclists, have a fish room with about 1500 gallons of tanks, and have 10 dogs, a horse, a cat, and 12 4 month old free range chickens. I think that I'm older than you are (I'm 66) but we seem to have a lot in common other than the age thing..

Welcome to BYC, katie, we are so glad you've joined us
